The Proposal

Matt and Sandra had date night all scheduled. Well, Matt did, anyway. Sandra just thought it was another nice Friday night. He was carrying the ring around for weeks already. Matt had Sandra meet him in mid-town, because it was centrally located between where the both of them worked (it wasn’t, but Matt convinced Sandra anyway).

A fancy dinner at China Grill ensued. Highlights include the spare-ribs and an extensive conversation about the history of the building. Looking back, Matt realizes how lame that was. Also looking back, Sandra just remembers how nervous Matt was. She later admitted she knew what was coming. He was just doing his damnedest to be suave.

After dinner, Matt surprised Sandra with a trip up to the Top of the Rock (in Rockefeller Plaza). It was actually quite a step for Matt — he’s petrified by heights. At sunset, Matt stammered through some sappy, prepared speech. Some photographer interrupted them mid-speech. Poor timing. Matt was finally able to spit it out, and Sandra said yes. The newly engaged couple enjoyed the view for a few hours before departing to avoid the rain.

The rest, as they say, is history…
